Budget Brainiacs Welcome Email

Budget Brainiacs is a fictional family membership program designed to help kids ages 10 and up learn practical money-management skills through online videos, games, quizzes, and rewards. The family plan gives parents a way to introduce financial education at home without turning it into another heavy teaching task.

For this welcome-email assignment, I wrote a post-purchase message designed to reassure new members that they’d made a good decision, reinforce the value of the membership, explain how Budget Brainiacs works, and give parents a few clear steps for helping their kids get started.

The challenge

The Challenge

A welcome email has to do more than say thank you. For Budget Brainiacs, it needed to reassure parents that joining was a worthwhile decision while also making the membership feel simple enough to use right away.

The assignment called for a warm, conversational message that reinforced the benefits of the program, explained how the Clubhouse worked, helped new members get started, and pointed them toward support if they had questions.

My approach

My Approach

01

Reinforce the decision before introducing details

The email opens by affirming the parent’s choice and connecting the membership back to the larger goal: helping their children build practical money skills. That gives the onboarding information a reason to matter.

02

Translate the product into benefits for both parent and child

I framed the games, quizzes, points, and learning channels in terms of what each side gets from the experience: engaging financial education for kids and greater peace of mind for parents without adding another heavy task to their plate.

03

Give new members an easy first step

Rather than ending with a general “go explore,” the email points parents toward specific setup actions — creating child profiles, completing the parent profile, and choosing how to receive progress updates — so the next move feels clear.
